New Springer deal for open access publishing
QMUL has agreements and memberships with a number of publishers to facilitate the payment of open access publishing fees. The latest of these is the UK Springer Compact agreement.
22 April 2016
The UK Springer Compact agreement is a pilot running from now until December 2018.
The agreement allows corresponding authors from QMUL to publish research and review papers, brief communications and continuing education papers, with immediate open access in subscription journals that offer the Open Choice option without any additional cost.
To be eligible you need to be:
- The correspondence author
- Affiliated to QMUL and publishing under this affiliation
- Publishing an original paper, review paper, brief communication or continuing education article in a Springer Open Choice journal that offers a CC BY licence*
*The agreement does not cover Springer Open Access journals, BioMed Central journals or Open Choice journals that do not offer CC BY licensing.
Once your paper is accepted, Springer will send you a link to their MyPublication form, where you need to select your affiliation. You will also need to agree to the open access terms (including the CC BY licence). Please use your QMUL e-mail address to enable Springer to identify you as eligible under the agreement.
Springer will contact the Repository and Research Information Team to verify your eligibility. Once verified your article will be published open access. If you would like any more information about the agreement, or to check your eligibility, please contact the Repository and Research Information Team.
