Active data storage

Data that are being actively collected, worked on or added to, during the lifetime of a project are supported within QMUL by the Research Data Storage Service in IT Services.  Researchers holding a current research grant can request an allocation of up to 1TB of data storage for active data. Additional storage will also be made available for an annual fee. It is expected that projects with significant active data storage requirements will include the relevant costs in their grant proposal.

To request an allocation of active data storage, the Principal Investigator (or a representative on their behalf) should contact the ITS Research Support team via its-research-support@qmul.ac.uk with the following information:

  • Project name.
  • Named persons who will need access to the data storage during the project.
  • Named owner of the data storage and any datasets stored there.
  • Work order/budget code for the grant that the research is funding.
